Serrado is a small farm located in Carmo de Minas, in the state of Minas Gerais in Brazil. This is the family's 5th generation in coffee, José Antonio Pereira, his wife Valeria and his sons Caio and Felipe all help manage the farm. Coffee is the main but not the only focus of the farm, but every year they try to make higher quality coffee. They grow Acaiá, Mundo Novo, Yellow Catuaí and Yellow Bourbon at an altitude of 1100-1200 MASL. During the harvest the coffee is picked manually to avoid any cherries dropping to the floor. The coffee is collected three times a day and transported to the mill where it can be processed as naturl, washed, honey or pulped natural. In addition to coffee, the farm has Dairy Cattle, which supplies most of the fertilizer required by coffee plantations. They also have a photovoltaic plant that supplies all the power needed to produce coffee and milk.
