In the words of Common Goal Coffee: "A panoramic view of Poços de Caldas unveils the remnants of an ancient volcano surrounding the city. Whether seen from aerial photos or from the summit of Serra de São Domingos (1,686 meters high), it's clear that the town is nestled within a vast volcanic crater. The rich, fertile soil, combined with the high altitude, makes this region an ideal environment for producing specialty coffee.
Coffee has been cultivated in Poços de Caldas since 1860, with exports becoming viable in 1886 thanks to the arrival of railways. However, it wasn't until 1991 that local producers began discussing specialty coffee. This coincided with the efforts of the Brazil Specialty Coffee Association (BSCA) to identify high-quality coffees from this unique terroir. In 2000, Bourbon Specialty Coffees officially launched its operations in Poços de Caldas, further elevating the region’s reputation.
This community blend is a collaboration of over 100 partner producers from Bourbon Specialty Coffees, each contributing their unique harvest to create a distinctive, high-quality coffee."
